Tales of real life adventure at a time full of excitement and promise.
Captain H G Mowat started his nautical career in 1936 and circumnavigated the world several times. He retired in 1981 and spent the rest of his life in Bristol. Author of The Lonely Ships and Captain Carteret and The Voyage of the Swallow, this is the book he wrote prior to his death in 2011, aged 89. It is an account of life in the Bristol Steam Navigation Company at a time when they were in the ascendancy. From his first voyage, to WWII and beyond. The tales are those of real life adventure at a time full of excitement and promise. Extremely well written and a real page turner. 274 pages illustrated with black and white photographs. Highly recommended.
