The Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) officially resumed operations and welcomed back its first commercial vessel following Hurricane Dorian.
On Sept 12, the GBS said the crude oil tanker Agathonissos, 106,149dwt, owned by Eletson, of Greece, returned to the yard to complete repair work that had begun before the hurricane had arrived and she was among several ships in Bahamas waters that put to sea.
The GBS said: “The damage from the storm was limited primarily to some erosion with no effect on berths and it was able to fully power its main operations, including docks, workshops and the communications infrastructure.”
The GBS said it remained on track for the next planned cruise ship visit, the Carnival Ecstasy, 70,526gt, of the Carnival Cruise Line, of Miami, which was scheduled to arrive on Oct 5.
The company expects to
