A new Chief Executive has been appointed by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution to succeed Paul Boissier, who has held the post since 2009.
Mark Dowie (pictured) takes over on May 15. He has been a senior banker who was most recently the chief executive, Corporate & Institutional Banking at the Standard Chartered Bank.
Between 1982 and 1990, Mr Dowie served in the Royal Navy and was a former Supply Officer, leaving with the rank of Lieutenant. Among the ships he served in were the helicopter carrier Illustrious and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary fleet replenishment ship Reliant.
He has owned a successful marine services company and is also a trustee of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
A keen sailor and gyrocopter pilot, Mr Dowie has been the Lifeboat Operations Manager, a volunteer role, at Salcombe RNLI Station since 2017.
