FOR MORE THAN 30 years, Flying Focus, based in the Netherlands, has specialised in maritime aerial photography..
Since its formation in the mid- 1980s, thousands of ships, maiden voyages, and special cargo transports have been photographed. The company, which undertakes assignments and projects as far away as the Arctic Circle and Atlantic Ocean, is particularly well-known for its photographic work of ships in rough weather in the North Sea. For this purpose it uses a specially acquired twin-engine Cessna Skymaster aircraft – based at Texel international airport – which is capable of flying in winds on the Beaufort scale, of up to force 10.
A selection of 13 impressive ‘heavy weather’ photographs, captured by maritime aerial photographer, Herman IJsseling, are published in the company’s new 2020 edition of the “Gale Warning Calendar”. The calendar, which measures 30 cm x 38 cm, is priced at €18.50, excluding postage and packing. Also available, are books and calendars covering subjects such as fishing, offshore oil and gas, offshore wind energy, inland shipping, tugs, and European lighthouses.
All the publications can be ordered through the Flying Focus website: www.flyingfocus.nl
