Shinshu Maru

There was an impressive line-up of guests at the naming of the new liquefied natural gas carrier Shinshu Maru at the Sakaide shipyard of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Japan, on Jan 17.

The ship has been built for Trans Pacific Shipping Ltd, a joint venture of the NYK Line and the Japanese energy giant JERA. With a length of 299.9m and a breadth of 48.9m, the ship has a cargo tank capacity of 177,277cu m.

The ship was to be delivered last month and will be used to transport LNG from the Freeport LNG project in Texas, US, under a 20-year contract signed in 2015.
